Stinger Suits and Lycra wetsuits provide protection against nasty stings from jellyfish and blue-bottles plus they greatly reduce damaging sun rays hitting your skin.
Perhaps the biggest threats to swimmers, especially in the northern reaches of Queensland, are stingers and jellyfish so it's a necessity for us to provide a wide range of stringer suit solutions. We carry hooded and non-hooded stinger suits in both lycra and microfibre Dive Skins.
Lycra is high effective against stingers and the sun but does not provide any warmth. For a stinger-suit that provides warmth we recommend going with a micro fibre or ply-fleece stinger suit.

Be wary that if you are using a standard wetsuit, made of neoprene, you can end up worse off than if you wear nothing at all! This is because neoprene is a 'sealed' membrane in the sense that water can't pass through it, this means that for water to enter a suit [because of pressure, among other things] it has to enter through your neck, wrist or ankle seams. Unfortunately, if a stinger gets into your suit, it's just going to stay in there stinging you as it slowly makes its way back out. Stinger suits do not have this problem because water can pass through the material of the suit, meaning no water is moving through your entry points.
