    Kid's Scuba Diving Wetsuits

Although Scuba Diving isn't something most people think about as an activity for kids, it is one of the safest and most regulated sports you can be involved in.  An enjoyable dive requires a wetsuit for both warmth and protection from scraps and ocean life.

Note: teens will fit some of the smaller sizes in the adults scuba wetsuits.

Our range of kids wetsuits is split by their seam: some are unsealed Flatlock seams and the others are sealed with a Glued and Blind-stitched Seam.  Sealed seam wetsuits are substantially warmer as they deny passage for cold-water to enter the suit via the seam and stitching-pin holes. You can learn more here but to summarise: a wetsuit is like a car heater, a sealed wetsuit is like having the windows closed, an unsealed wetsuit is like having the windows open.

The world in which we today reside also finds itself in a tumultuous period, not in the sense of cowboy divers and unregulated dive-schools, but in that it is having to deal with the effects of climate change, toxification of the ocean and plastification of our sea-life.  It's easier for us older folk to look beyond the problem but our kids are being educated to solve this problem and that comes with emotional consequence & unrest. We think the best way to soothe our children in the face of this challenge is to immerse them in it's beauty and show them that it's still worth fighting for.  Sure, it's easy for me to sit here and say the reef is dead and it used to be great, but the fact of the matter is, our kids never experienced it, and never will, so what we might consider an average dive site, could be the most awe inspiring experience of their few, yet formative years.  The ocean is an amazing place and one that deserves adoration even after human-kind has derailed it's balance.

There are many crucial pieces of equipment when it comes to scuba diving but a wetsuit is generally the biggest factor in your comfort and experience because you can have the best gear in the world but if you're cold you're going to be having a bad time, shivering all the fishies away and biting off your regulator mouth piece...   Many of us have, unfortunately, been subject to rental suits from dive schools that don't accommodate for those that feel the cold. This can permanently tarnish your perspective on wetsuits and turn you away from cold-water diving and you don't want that because cold-water is generally better visibility, at least in Australia that's the case.

This is where we can help! We've spent years cutting through the marketing spiels and fancy trademark names to bring you an unbiased selection of what we consider to be the best scuba diving wetsuits.

When making decisions on a scuba wetsuit you must first consider thickness and this is very much personal preference.  As a rough guide we sell mostly 3mm scuba suits to QLDers, 5-7mm suits for Syndey Folk and 7-9mm in Melbourne.  As there are countless factors in water temperatures we have made an info video to help you make informed decisions on thickness.

The other key elements are the type of seam and the zip system.  We've gone into great lengths into stitching/seams in this blog post.  As for zips, most commonly you'll find a back or front zip and it's personal preference but we consider front-zips to be better design, which, if you're intrigued about zip design, you can learn a bunch here however it's slightly surf-centric.
