    Mens Short Sleeve Steamers

Mens Short Sleeve Steamers are full-length wetsuits, minus the arms, making for reduced resistance when paddling at little cost to overall warmth.  As a result, this style of wetsuit is common at a high-performance level of surfing. Realistically, the only instance in which a short-arm steamer is less ideal than a full steamer is when the air temperature is a leading factor in the cold.  If the water is cold, but the air is warm, there's no need for extra upper-body coverage. Another great thing about this cut of steamer is that they're typically more affordable than long sleeve steamers.

Just like all surfing wetsuits, it's important to consider what style works for you. What neoprene thickness you need will depend on your tolerance to colder water and where you'll be surfing. Someone in Queensland would normally opt for 3/2mm wetsuit for winter, whereas a 4/3mm or thicker would be more suitable further south. What type of zipper style you use will determine how you get in and out of the wetsuit, and will influence the wetty's overall flexibility. Chest zips are becoming increasingly popular as they allow for better water sealing around the collar, and don't limit the stretch of neoprene in your back panel.

There's a lot to consider when you're buying a new wetsuit, and if you want to learn more in order to make an informed decision about buying a short sleeve steamer online hit our video/blog links just below!

To get the most out of your steamer we recommend washing it with the Aussie formulated Wetsuit Wash between uses to remove sweat, salt, bacteria and chlorine and to follow steps outlaid in our Wetsuit Maintenance Blog.
