Naomi Gittoes - Eco Friendly Lycra Leggings & Fin Bags

Naomi Gittoes is a NSW Artist and free-diver, focused on sustainability and finding our place in the environment - through her range of eco-friendly leggings and fin bags.  Naomi's art spreads well beyond that of her garments and some of you may be familiar with her art featured on DiveR Freediving Fins.

Naomi's search for low impact yet high quality materials was no easy feat but the combination of Xtra Life & Recycled PET ensures a high quality product that doesn't punish the environment. The recycled PET is a yarn derived from plastic bottles and other post-consumer plastics, helping us solve our plastic pollution problem. Xtra Life Lycra is the current industry leader in technical elastane fibres (spandex/lycra etc are all trademark names for elastane, did you know spandex is an anagram for expands?). Xtra Life touts unrivaled durability, equating to around 10x more life when exposed to chlorine, ultra-violent rays and sunscreens. Although Xtra Life is not a recycled product, it is an extremely high-quality product that ensures these Fin Bag are going to stand the test of time, not lose colour and retain their shape. Because lets be honest, the only 'green' products are the one you've already bought, so lets make sure the things you do buy, last forever! Suffice to say, humankind's current plastic pollution problem is not a product of the material, but our globalized consumerist nature and willingness to by cheap crap that lasts for a few minutes.

    Artwork

All artwork on these Fin Bag and Leggings are created by the hands of Naomi Gittoes, an artist based in northern NSW. The art draws on aquatic iconography, a long-term influence in Naomi's life and art. You may have seen her artwork on DiverR Freediving fins.
