Freediving Gloves
Like freediving socks, a pair of quality gloves is an essential part of your diving kit. One of the most obvious reasons for this is the thermal retention neoprene gloves can provide. You lose more heat through your extremities than your head, so making sure you keep them warm is crucial to keeping yourself comfortable even in slightly warmer waters.
Another big one for freedivers is that they allow you to safely interact with the underwater environment. Grabbing onto some coral or sharp rock in the water isn't the brightest move when barehanded. It's also beneficial to have some coverage when there are stingers around.
With dive gloves, there's a general trade-off between dexterity and thickness. Thin gloves will make handling any dive accessories easy (e.g. adjusting your mask) but thicker gloves are suitable when you're in a colder climate.
