    Kids Surfing Wetsuits

Kids Surfing Wetsuits are wetties designed especially with surfing in mind, that is to say they offer generous warmth without negating stretch and flexibility.  Surfing wetsuits are obviously ideal for surfing but due to the similarities in paddling, you'll find surfing suits are the best for swimming also.

The challenge in buying a kids wetty lies in the fact that a wetsuit is effective when tight as to stop cold-water entering the wetsuit. If the wetty is loose it's like driving your car with the heater on but the windows down. For example, I'm 6'5" but skinny and the size that fits me correctly is labelled to fit a 5'10"-6' person. In saying that, we all want to get a few seasons out of clothing before growing out of it. Wetsuits are incredibly stretch garments and can easily accommodate a growth spurt, however the only part that doesn't stretch is the zipper. Basic entry-level wetsuits have a back zip which limits the height that your child can grow in the suit. If you are looking for a wetsuit that will tolerate more growth, consider kids wetsuits that have a chest zip, or no zip.

Regardless of whether you opt for a full-length wetsuit (known as a steamer) or a short arm and leg wetsuit (known as a spring suit), the wetsuit will keep them warm in almost all conditions and will get them multiple seasons when cared for correctly

      Kids Surfing Wetsuits Features

      • Stretchy Paddle Zones: Typically you'll find higher quality neoprene in the arms/shoulder zones as it will cause less fatigue due to straining the neoprene when they paddle and surf. With wetsuits labelled 3/2mm or 4/3mm, the smaller number is generally denoting the thickness of the sleeves/shoulders.
      • Warm, especially in the wind: Being that you're exposed to all the elements when surfing, special measures are taken to limit wind-chill.  The most notable is the smooth-skin panel on the torso, not all suits have this, but it is water repelling so it keeps their vital regions warmer.
      • Durable: kids do kid things and often that means little regard for self, let alone their clothing!  Thats partly why you'll find heavy duty flatlock seams in most surfing wetsuits, except for the top of the line Sealed suits.
