    Jet Ski Steamer Wetsuits

On a jet ski, believe it or not, wind chill can be a real issue when it comes to staying warm. You're going to lose heat fastest when you're wet and the wind is wicking heat away from your body, so putting something between yourself and that wind helps to keep you toasty.

The neoprene of these wetties works by trapping a thin layer of water against the skin which warms from your body heat, acting as an insulator from the cold. The rubbery polymer that is neoprene provides a barrier between this warm layer and the cold exterior. It's important to get a good fitting wetsuit, especially for jet skiing, because a loose-fitting wetsuit will easily permit water flushing.

Depending on what conditions you're going out in, you may opt for a full steamer or a long or short john (a sleeveless wetsuit). Your legs are where there's the most potential for you to lose warmth when jet skiing so for anyone in cooler conditions we'd recommend a long john cut at a minimum. You'll also need to make sure you pick the right thickness - too thick and you'll be sweating, too thin and it won't feel warm enough. Thicker neoprene also usually means less flexibility which can reduce your mobility.

Remember to take care of your wetsuit to get the most out of it by washing it with wetsuit wash after use and keeping it out of the sun between uses. To learn more check out our wetsuit maintenance blog.
