The never ending wave - Kai Lenny
September 16, 2016 1 min read
Kai Lenny - a true waterman. Kai learnt to surf at the age of 4, he has been windsurfing since he was just 6 and kitesurfing by the age of 9! He is 9 times world stand up paddle champion and a world kitesurfing champion, not to mention his countless big wave surfing accolades that he has under his belt.
I think it's safe to say that Kai is one of the world's greatest multi-board athletes and boardsport pioneers. Hydorofoiling is just another one to add to the list for Kai.
Never heard of a hydrofoil? It's a foil that sits just under the surface of the water which, in this case, is attached to a surfboard, designed to generate lift as the craft gains speed. As the foil sits under the surface it has the power to harness the true energy of the swell. Because to the extra energy and lack of resistance, swell that has always been impossible to ride is now surfable!
"My life long dream has always been to continue to progress and figure out new ways to ride waves.... The world's longest waves are just in my front yard and the sensation of flight has never felt better."
This is real game-changer. Not only for surfers, but for downwind stand up paddle boarders, winderfers and kitesurfers alike.
