    Wetsuit Socks

Wetsuit Socks are socks made from wetsuit material, to use with a wetsuit, which you may have guessed, from their creative title... But here at Wetsuit Warehouse we love simplicity and it doesn't get much more simple than a wetty sock.  Wetsuit Socks serve four main porpoises: keep your feet warm inside a closed-heel fin, keep your feet warm inside a wetsuit boot (A boot has a sole but a sock does not), keep your feet warm inside a normal shoe (or those aqueous adventurers like Adventure Racers, canyoneers, kayakers or sailors) and to protect your feet from things like cuts from the reef, stings from jellies and sunburn.

Almost all socks are sewn with a GBS seam (info here) not because it's the cheapest - because that is flatlock - but because a GBS seam uses a hooked needle that creates no water-sucking pin-holes around the seam. Furthermore, a GBS seam expands beyond belief, which is important in a sock because feet shapes differ so much. Also, socks usually come in a four size range which need to accommodate all sizes of feet, generally from size 6-14, but this is no task for neoprene as typically it expands at least an extra 100% of its original length/width.

Did you know humans don't lose most heat through their head?

We've found countless scientific, peer-reviewed, journals to enforce the fact that we do not actually lose most heat through our head - when wet you lose the majority of heat through skin-water contact, relatively to surface area - something your hands and feet have a lot of! And so, these are the areas that are most sensitive to heat loss.
